Jim,

Oh, Intel will come up with something amd when they do, AMD needs to be ready.

I don't know how many alternatives there are.
- There is of course IA32, or x86-32, but that will run out of steam in a few years.
- Then, we have IA64, and it is possible that Intel could order a death march to IA64, it is a possibility.
- Then there is AMD's x86-64, which Intel can copy, and it may be the path of the least resistance, but it would help AMD, but it runs contrary to Intel's goal of cornering the market.
- Incompatible x86-64 is something that probably gives every Intel executive a boner. But it could be too boldfaced even for Intel.
- StrongArm, MIPS, or something entirely new? unlikely.

Unless they can stay up on Intel for an extended period of time their stock will look like the same 'ole yo yo.

Yo yo is not bad if you know how to play it. I don't know the next time there will be a bull market like the last 15 to 18 years, or companies like Microsoft, GE, Intel, Cisco, that kept going up year after year, with incredible percentage gains.
