Jim,

who makes IA-64 software...?

That is not an easy question to answer. Just about everybody and their cousin issued PR statements about plan to write / convert / migrate their software to IA-64. But nobody issues press releases when IA-64 projects are canned, or when company that bet on IA-64 goes under. So a Teletubbie can answer with a list of names of companies "committed", but there is no way to know what was committed. The commitment can be real, it can be non-existent, or it could be an intern "committed" to a storage room with a desk and an Itanium computer.

Since hardly anybody is buying IA-64 hardware, the market for IA-64 software does not really exist.

Joe
