I agree with the idea of getting the plane to the ground as soon as possible and with the idea of reinforced cabin doors but reinforced doors are still not invulnerable, and having a gun doesn't prevent the pilot from bringing the plane down.

"You cannot fly an airplane and look over your shoulder, firing down the cabin," says one of these pilots.

True but there are two or three crew members on these planes, not one. Also if the pilot determines that it is not a good idea to use his gun, he can refrain from using it. Having one merely gives him the option.

that's just so much bull....

easy for Will to say..he's not the one putting his life on the line each time he takes an aircraft up.

if i were a pilot, i would each and every mode of "protection" for my passengers, crew, and self at my disposal.
