MSI, One could thing about charity, is that it does not necessarily have to be money. There are many people that need the time of other people who have been in the shoes they are in now. I have been in the world of alcoholism, and find that spending time with a person fighting that demon, does far more than any amount of money. Some people advocate psychiatry for alcoholism, but the shrinks, for the most part, have never been there and do not know what it is like, so they just listen and bill Medicare. Health issues have also put me in the neighborhood of Medicare, and I can assure from first hand knowledge, that there is more graft, and corruption, in the medical system than nearly any other. Only old time labor unions would come close, but they were absconding with members' dues instead of taxpayers' money.

A Republic many not negate a democratic bent to the government, but can never become a true democracy. The closest nation to a true democracy on Earth is Switzerland, where almost every citizen casts a vote.

For any ruling class to be overthrown, you will need strong people that can get behind a cause, and dedicate all of their effort, resources, and valor, to that cause. From the majority of the generations of the baby boomers, yuppies, druggies, and malcontents, I find it hard to believe that the necessary people can be found to carry the banner of the peaceful revolution. Maybe some day. I pray that it becomes so.
