It is a generalization and all people are unique, but I believe what I suggest does have some merit in a broad sense. Women are also more socially oriented; parties and gift exchanges are examples. I have good friends I've known for over 30 years, but I don't often exchange gifts with my buddies. Typical office environments also bear witness to this observation.

This is a comment of Sherry's that I agree with:
Men are far happier pursuing a single project, following a focused line of attack, while women are unbelievably good at flitting hither and thither, performing a multitude of tasks simultaneously. It is this difference in approach and awareness that leads to so much trouble.

Another gender difference is that women have been shown to use up to twice as many words per day as men. Regarding this difference, women contend that they have to say everything twice when speaking to men.
