Steak & Shake originated where I live. About 20 years ago the company was bought and some of the operations moved. I remember a guy who had been cleaning out the warehouse had found the original recipe under a loose board in the floor.

I haven't a clue to who might have that recipe now but it starts with 8 pounds of lard.

Hi, cliff! Glad you could join us here. I'm not on as much as I use to be but the others will certainly entertain you....and they are darn good cooks as well!

Ish....lard???? We have a Steak & Shake here and I've never set foot in the place. Am I to understand that the chili is super?!!
