Ron:

I was just going from the MSM6300 feature description and no the detailed spec sheet. You're right, the detailed specs say nothing about GPS One support for the GSM/GPRS mode. From some of the discussion here, it would appear unlikely, but we're getting beyond my understanding here.

So QCOM's upcoming multi-mode MSM6xxx chipsets don't promise any salvation for AWE, Cingular and Voicestream from their E-911 woes?

Looks like maybe we were both a bit premature in writing off the Snaptrack/GPS applicability to the GSM/GPRS modes in the MSM6200/6300. From the Qualcomm PR yesterday (posted by Ben):

Message 17568853

...The MSM6200 solution is also compatible with QUALCOMM's MGP6200(TM) Multimode Global Positioning System (GPS) Processor and system software, providing industry-leading Wireless Assisted GPS(TM) capabilities. The MGP6200 solution supports WCDMA as well as GSM and GPRS systems. The MGP6200 chip uses the proven Assisted GPS fast-convolution hardware core and software algorithms from SnapTrack(TM), Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of QUALCOMM, to provide significantly enhanced GPS signal sensitivity, fast start times, multipath mitigation, and power optimization, while minimizing positioning data traffic on wireless networks....

I would expect there to be a companion MGP 6300 for the MSM6300 also, since they both support GSM/GPRS, with the only difference between the two being that the 6300 supports CDMA 2000 1x, whereas the 6200 supports WCDMA.
