While other former top dogs, like Phillip Khan, Steve Jobs, and the Lotus guy flounder, Gates stays on top.

Man I wish I could flounder like these guys. Steve Jobs has not been seen on the bread lines recently. Disney is bending over backwards to get in good with Pixar, and Apple's board has been giving him everything he asks for. Since leaving Borland, Phillipe Khan sold his Starfish wireless company to Motorola for several billion dollars, and founded LightSurf in Santa Cruz. Local rumor has it that Khan, a jazz player, has a pianist on staff at LightSurf so he can have an accompanist whenever he feels like it.

If that's floundering, I'd hate to see what you call watching your net worth drop by 50% like Bill Gates did because you became too arrogant and decided that antitrust law didn't apply to you, and because you blew billions of dollars on failed telecomm investments.
