I guess I have a broader notion of evidence. To me, any fact that increases confidence in X is evidence (short of proof) for X. Perhaps I should say indirect evidence.

Perhaps you shouldn't have said "fact".

And what "evidence" is that?? I saw "indirect evidence" last Christmas Day, of Hoof prints on my roof that looked suspiciously like "Deer Prints" (At least to me they did, forget about the roofers that did work the week before). Also that night, there was "indirect evidence" reported on the news of ufo's in the area (Couldn't be any stuff from The White Sands Missile Test Range.... Naw). Also, On Christmas Day, I found a strange long "White Hair" on my livingroom carpet (Yes I know it was a Hair, because my friend the barber said it looked like a hair).

Therefore, based on the "indirect evidence", Santa Claus must really exist. I'm sure glad I have the indirect evidence that proved that one! We can now all rest easy. Santa Claus lives. I know, because I have 3 pieces of indirect evidence that tells me so.
