I think DEC brought in the Alpha 64 bit in around '92 or '93 -- and while it couldn't have been PC'd then it could have been by '95.

And I think the competition has increased in X86 land since '95.

And I think the rate of change is increasing anyway now.

What were the generally accepted changing points for 8 bit to 16 bit, 16 bit to 32 bit and 32 bit to 64 bit?

Was there one for 4 bit to 8 bit?
