ha haaa a fellow expert in gold retrieval -g-

Yes the semi biz uses copious quantities of Gold, Silver, Platinum, and Paladium. Ok...I'm just talking low tech here but there is plenty of that.

Man could I tell you stories..... Example: There was one place where we managed to reclaim about 50% of the platinum used. Only about 1% of it actually ended up in the chip... the rest got flushed down the sewer through various mechanisms. So I left that in place when I left...a nice "earner" and returned much later. I found my reclaim system had been improved upon. Some guy (who drove a Farrari, and who had a sizable collection of similar cars, had persuaded the procurement department that he could "save them money") cleaned the equipment to high semiconductor cleanliness standards for a very modest fee. Of course I admire such cost efficiency, and just wish I had helped the industry this way myself....I am sooooo dumb -g-
