Unfortunately, all too often one doesn't find out immediately that something is wrong. Your computer can boot fine after making a change, adding hardware, updating a driver, or whatever, and then you discover a week later that you have a problem. Once you have booted into Windows successfully, the "Last Known Good Configuration" includes the most recent changes. - Allen
