IMO, the cancer that is extremism, and embodied by Al-Qaeda has moved to the Kasmir region. They have failed in Afghanistan, and moving to Kashmir is an admission of failure. I also believe Usama bin Laden is no more, however attempts are being made by some of his previous subordinates to invoke his name for their own personal power. I don't think the subordinates will be able to continue fooling the rank and file of Al-Qaeda, unless there are still some Usama video tapes in storage.

IMO, people should view President/General Musharaff like a Pakstani version of George Washington. Except President Musharaff is not only fighting a revolution, he is also fighting something like the War of 1812 at the same time as the revolution against extremism.

Hopefully India and Pakistan will remember their history, and the example of Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi was an example to the world, pacifists and warriors alike. Gandhi knew the courage required for non-violence. Perhaps Pakistan will even ask India for help in the removal of the cancer. Once the cancer is removed, and the delirium has subsided, decisions can be made with a clear head.

Gandhi did not chose between religions, nor can America choose between friends.

Some quotes from Mahatma Gandhi;

"Non-violence requires more than the courage of the soldier of war."

"I have not lost the hope that the masses will refuse to bow to the Moloch of war but they will rely upon their own capacity for suffering to save their country’s honour. "

"Exploitation and domination of one nation over another can have no place in a world striving to put an end to all war."
