i have read a few dozen or more user comments on several different venues in the past couple of days, all about AVG... and a rough estimate of the pro versus con ratio is overwhelmingly in favor of AVG.

but something like that Virus Bulletin test showing 1 pass and 16 fails is hard to overlook, or the pc911 test showing 1 pass and 14 fails, or the pcmag results showing 6 missed viruses.

as for reporting to the thread if anyone you know using AVG has a problem, that is a great plan. we can all be of use to each other in that regard.

the only people i know personally (in recent memory) who have had their computers infected are people without antivirus software, or people who have it installed but don't keep the definitions current or don't run scans or don't keep the auto-protect function turned on.

btw, for anyone still reading this, the pc911 site that gottfried linked the other day sure looks like a winner. here are the people behind the scenes at pc911...
