The point is, as frequencies have scaled higher, it now seems to me, that the attitudes of the reporters is quite diffderent then it was a year ago, and apparently some are now of the opinion that the added Performance for the added expense of Rambus, may be starting to be worth it.

Just like the Droids who were convinced that P4 was a terrible design and now they are hoping Hammer may catch it. Anyway... As frequencies continue to rise and ondie caches increase, hyperthreading will mask latency issues and RDRAM's bandwidth will have great appeal.

Listen, I've never been a fan of Rambus the Company, but putting personal feelings aside, and I know I'll probably get flamed for this, but I've always been a fan of Rambus's Performance Potential. I've never been a fan of it's cost, but the recent crashing of the whole dram market has brought Rambus into my "Cost Window", despite it still being for the most part more costly than DDR.

The thing is, as intel has scaled it's P4 above 2.4GHz, I've noticed an overall change in web site reporting about Rambus Equipped Systems. While the general tone during the PC600/800 days used to be like: "Generally Not much better, and WAY more expensive, so don't waste your money", the reporting in recent articles has been more like "Yeah the performance with RDRAM is..... WAY better than DDR equipped systems, but it's still more expensive then DDR". I can't recall any "don't waste" statements lately.

The point is, as frequencies have scaled higher, it now seems to me, that the attitudes of the reporters is quite diffderent then it was a year ago, and apparently some are now of the opinion that the added Performance for the added expense of Rambus, may be starting to be worth it.

Flame Awaaaaaaaaayyyyy......

An Intel plant responding to the all time Intel (and former employee) stooge in drag about the virtues of Rambus with the conclusion that Intel was right all along. It just doesn't get any more perverted than this. The degree to which Intel attempts to manipulate public opinion just astounds me.
