The difference, now, is orders of magnitude greater information flow these days. If evidence shows up it'll persist, as in Watergate. There are enough anomolies to ask questions. If the real goal is the destruction of radical Islam, then any evidence to the contrary will have to be addressed, or investigations will take place. Meanwhile, none of this runs counter the war on terrorism. Only an idiot would stand down a military operation whose goal is to defend America if it is doing its job. But also, only an idiot would overlook the massive failures on 9/11, including the obvious standing down of fighters, and a hundred other questions.
