...We don't often hear of complaints of ill effects from stainless steel pots and pans...

This is more than likely a media coverup. Just ask yourself how often mainstream reporters even interview stainless steel pots and pans, let alone inquire after their health. They just have little potential to make major media advertising buys.

It is little recognized that no-one has ever survived eating even a single peanut butter sandwich for much more than a century.

Regards, Don

<<or knifes pots and pans, they would be very safe!>>
There are gold(coated) cooking pans / pots - that upon I reported here quite some time ago. Gold is used not because of reduced reactivity but instead because of improved conduction of heat.

<<Why people use aluminum cookware is beyond me.>>

It is often now coated with some other metal / sandwiched between layers of stainless steel, coated with a non-stick. If someone is only boiling water or an inert food in water it matters not.

<<Copper is relatively benign,>>

Funny, but in cooking copper is used because it conducts heat well OT because is does react against egg whites & when beaten - whisked - in copper they get more fluffy more quickly.
