Gates has the kind of personality that can suppress the kind of guilt that normal people have and can rationalize every rotten deal, swindle and downright nasty business decision he's made. The guy makes William Randolf Hearst look appealing.

Correct. He's a ruthless (to the point of sociopathy), brilliant, self-driven, hard-working businessman who is not afraid to surround himself with people who are smarter than him. He's also a half-decent salesman, understands the in-and-outs of legal agreements and has no problem owning up to mistakes. Many have some of the above qualities, very few people have all of them.

William H. Gates III feels no, pity, no pain, and no remorse. Its programmed to kill and that's what it does. The ultimate business machine, the Bill Gates version 3.0 exists as a microprocessor controlled robot camouflaged within human flesh and blood.
