The advantage of public service by everyone, is that it will cause more to make a closer look at the debacle of government spending, since they'll see it for themselves.

The $2.3 trillion missing at the Pentagon is $8,000 for each of us. That's worth two weeks a year. The only way we can avoid getting screwed to that extent is to get involved, since voting doesn't work, and our politicians refuse to investigate the most monumental financial malfeasance in history.

I doubt the administration or officials want universal service, since it might lead to citizens getting organized enough to find good judges, and arrest those who loot the treasury (theft), and politicians who lie to the public for personal gain (larceny), or engage in war profiteering (treason).

I meant interesting in comparison only to granting the easy citizenship for simply being born. You rightly point out the servitude we exist under as the scales tip towards socialism and we slouch towards Gomorrah.

I get into more trouble here trying to make limited arguments but I think I'm not alone.

Article 1, Section 9 [4] No capitation, or other direct tax, shall be laid , unless in proportion to the census or Enumeration herein before directed to be taken.

Somehow I don't think this and the 16th Amendment can exist at the same time. I wonder if new copies of the Constitution have that article struck out.

Here is an interesting read on a concept I'd not heard of "Home Rule". Kinda shocking.
