They worried about performance and price, and it looks like they were right. Thanks to model numbers that reflect performance, AMD has been doing just fine, and they now have a competitive 32-bit chip, a superior 64-bit chip, and superior flash, together with costs 1/6 those of its 3 times as large competitor (AMD's flash operation is about as big as Intel's, while AMD's CPU operation is about 1/4 the size of Intel's).

I'd hate to be holding any INTC as the indications of a solid Q4 Hammer launch and a solid 10-days-away thoroughbred launch become stronger and stronger.

The mirrorbit news is just more icing on AMD's cake.
