Hi Gordon,

Thanks for pointing out the New Republic article. I let my subscription lapse in 1968, so I'm a bit out of touch with that publication. I was rather amazed that Newsmax would characterize the publication as "left-leaning". That seems like a wildly inaccurate characterization, realizing as I do that one of the country's most controversial conservative pundits, Andrew Sullivan, serves as a Senior Editor. Newsmax seems to be able, willing and delighted to lie about everything.

The New Republic was possibly somewhat left leaning in 1968, though it was certainly staid and not nearly as vocal in its opposition to the imperialism in Vietnam as I would have preferred.
