JDN,
The point is that BUSH and cronies requested, asked for, pleaded for, WANTED the tax increase. And why? So they could become millionaires...well they were already millionaires but Shrub wasn't one...just the son of the President of the United States and a failure at everything he had touched in the business world up to that time....

JDN...why are certain taxes good for a few individuals, but bad for the nation as a whole...care to answer that?

Actually no. Numerous studies of publicly financed stadiums, including one by a Federal Reserve Bank, find no or even negative economic impacts on the cities that are conned into building them.

Supposedly they [Publicly financed sports stadiums] bring in sales tax dollars, provide jobs etc etc
