Re: If Osama is alive, he must be having a chuckle.

Please, gimme a break on the Bin Laden joke.... Personally, I've put Bin Laden on my Ten Least Wanted Fugitives --together with an alien serial abductor and the Loch Ness monster...

Re: I would not be surprised if the bad feelings between the two is causing them to pull the rug under from the other. Sad that this should happen in agencies who we pay to protect us and more during such times of war on terrorism.

The CIA wound up the victim of its own bureaucratic hypertrophy... I guess the intelligence war against terrorism is similar to conventional warfare, that is, a loose/agile guerrilla army can defeat a slouchy, cumbersome, regular army. I'm afraid that under no circumstances 911 could have been prevented --because 911 is all about TREASON and stabbing-in-the-back. I even wonder whether the CIA bureaucracy's chief mission isn't purely domestic/ideological.... The CIA's role is much more about "marketing" than "R&D" to put it in corporate lingo. And the marketing itself is about spinning Uncle Sam as a Judeo-Christian crusader in a permanent struggle against Islamic "terrorism". So, when a couple of Israeli, Russian and French intelligence outfits join together to pull a fast one against the US, well, such an eventuality isn't even thinkable by CIA people --it lies beyond their (Judeo-Christian) mental horizon....
