extending it will require consent of the Philippine legislature, which has mixed feelings about the whole thing.
They aren't the only ones.

If that happens, there will be 600 American and 3000 Philippine troops, backed by a carrier task force, chasing around 80 bandits that have are holding 2 Americans and a Filipino hostage.
Wouldn't it be cheaper just to pay them each a few tens of millions to behave? :-)
