Constantine, Re: "I think AMD will do great with this new CPU....."

I tend to agree, but I'm still trying to manage expectations along the way.

<< wbmw, hmm, yes, ok, but still Hammer seems to have more early on support than any previous AMD launch. I am really tempted to load up on AMD now since it seems that my previous worries about the Hammer are gone now. I think AMD will do great with this new CPU..... >>

While I agree AMD is a great play at the time of hammer launch, why load up now? During past launches, you could still buy in cheap after teh chip was launched, after the benchmarks were out, after you had a good idea if it would really work.

Everything pre launch is lined up, the company is selling for close to waht it did when the k7 was launched, but is in a much improved state, financially, market share, and industry support are all in position to help them much more then the k7 launch. If the hammer is good, we might easily see the stock go up by a factor of 4, heck even a factor of 10 isn't completely unreasonable, but we don't really know if the hammer will be any good. I'd bet that you could load up on AMD after the release for close to the current price, so why place your bet early?
