It performed flawlessly, and they all rolled over died within a few days of each other.

How serendipitous! My experience is that the second appliance always fails about six weeks after purchasing a replacement for the first. Then the third goes approximately six weeks after that, and so on. I guess my self-destruct chips were flawed, as well as my appliances.
