Actually, there was massive unloading in the month before 9/11. One problem I see here is you can't look at sentiment indicators in a vacumn. You have to look at them collectively - and collectively during the past few months decline they have shown a complete lack of fear and panic - complacency reigns supreme now just as it did last summer as the market was declining. The Rydex indicator has never been tested in a bear market. At the ultimate bottom (intervening huge rallies notwithstanding)it should get to levels few here can imagine.
