They had been killed when the plane was hit so they never jumped. That has been twisted to Bush jumped before his crew did. The Japanese Commander of the island they bombed was very cruel and liked torture and cannibalism. When Bush went down his convoy had already passed and a trailing sub picked him up in one hell of a stroke of luck.
