Delayed response. As I was going through my in-box, I thought of a point of expansion.

If you're going to take the high moral ground, as you often do, you really should have a base position to claim that high moral ground. It's especially important, when the 'police abuses' you cite for the Brits are pale in comparison to those committed by the Chicago police.

On the international scene, the US claims against China for it's human rights abuses for using prison labor for manufacturing lose impact and credibility when the world knows that the US uses prison labor to tar and chip roads in the south.

I would imagine that the US trade negotiators in France are having a more difficult time with their position that free trade is important for farm products, while the US is significantly increasing farm subsidies.
