<with labor cost comparative advantage and that is good for profits. >

Where is the guy that has only experience in the PCB field going to replace his $25/hour job. Is he going down to Home Depot and make $25/hour, I don't think so...

I can tell you in the PCB business that over 70% of the number of shops that have closed have been privately held companies that were <$20M in sales. Omni Circuits in chicago doing $40M+ in sales, lots of Motorola work, lost all the work becuase of price. I know the ex-owner very well, in business for over 30 years, now he is struggling to keep his house, lost everything. He surely is not going over to Asia to build a shop...

Anyways you miss the pt in my industry, do have any idea what enviromental hurdles will be required to open a new shop in the US? Cities require that the water being sent out of the shop be cleaner than what is incoming. Another shop in Chicago can't open the doors to a facility purchased through another bankuptcy becuase the city does NOT want another printed circuit board shop in town.

<hottest segments include the use of circuit boards, you can expect this sector to rebound, that can mean that there will be new companies springing up>

We have not seen much new shop upstarts since 1980's, and with todays enviromental standards and "not in my backyard" attitude you can kiss it goodbye. The industry did not rebound in the US back to late 80's shop qty levels, and I doubt we will get back the 30-40% of shops we will loose in this downturn...

More and more people working in Retail is not good for the future... IMO
