If William the Bastard had suddenly saluted the flag and claimed to be pro-American, I'm sure everyone on the left would have condemned his decision, and possibly even begun talking up other candidates. The principle that the global warming fraud is a left wing enviro-whacko ploy has been held by conservatives since long before George Bush entered politics. If he has, indeed, changed his mind on this important issue of people versus enviro-whacko anti-humanists, then he is to be criticized every bit as much as the moron, Al Gore, whom he beat in 2000 was at that time. Presidents often make gestures to the center while in office for the purpose of winning votes. Some find that crass, though, as Sam Rayburn used to say, "They ain't got to run for County Clerk next year." Bush's previous gestures on steel tariffs and farm price supports are what one would usually expect from any president. And the useless CFR bill is a straight strategic move where the advantages to Bush-'04 can be measured in both dollars and votes. The sellout to the global warming fraud-if not modified or clarified in Washington fashion within a few days-is quite another matter. I equate it with Richard Nixon's "We're all Keynesians now.", or Clintons cynical signing of Welfare Reform, for which he then took credit. So for GWB: That's once...
