Brocade says 3rd, 4th quarter profit on track

LAS VEGAS, Nev., June 3 (Reuters) - Brocade Communications Systems Inc., which makes computer data storage network equipment, said on Monday that deals were growing bigger and earnings were on track to rise in the current quarter.

President and Chief Operating Officer Mike Byrd stuck to forecasts for the fiscal third and fourth quarters that the company gave on May 15 and said demand for its new generation of products was strong.

"Demand is more robust than ever and our deal size continues to grow," he said. "For the third fiscal quarter, we expect revenues in the range of $145 (million) to $150 million and earnings per share of 8 cents, and for the fourth fiscal quarter, we expect revenues in the range of $160 (million) to $165 million and earnings per share of 10 cents," he said.

That would be a steady increase from the $14 million or 6 cents per diluted share profit that Brocade reported for the second quarter.

Shares of Brocade ticked down in after-hours trade to $18.25 on Instinet from a close of $18.27 on the Nasdaq, where the lost 7 percent during regular trade.
