Taxes were already paid on all money that comes to those who have worked for it; money gets taxed and retaxed all the time. One can only give away, or receive as a gift, until a death occurs, 10k a year w/o the recipient of the gift owing taxes on it. That seems fair to most. The giver of the gift had already paid taxes on it, of course, as had those from whom the giver had received the money for goods or services, presumably.
