It's an election year. Pharmaceuticals have had a big target painted on them for some time, and President Bush, in all his wisdom, has left FDA without a Commissioner.

Hope? Sure..... medicines have value. Some markets are huge, and lots of them look huge in relation to the small research premiums. It's often very, very easy to recoup losses rapidly in biotech. However, those of us who thought that the dip in '98 was not going to be long-lasting got killed.

Hedge funds are rolling in profit, throwing bucks against the sector with impunity. They can withstand an enormous squeeze in any given issue, and not even blink.

Pick stocks wisely, with good timing. You'll notice that my recent timing was lousy. On a scale of one to ten, it registered as "stinking".
