So if they do embrace the resolution of the Arab League, why can't they be trusted to be consistent at working for peace if that is what they say they will do?

Have you noticed that Hamas and Hizbullah are Islamists? That means that they have adopted a program of totalitarian Islam, one of whose basic tenets is that you cannot make lasting peace with the infidel, only temporary truces are allowed; your long-term goal must always remain conquest. So if Hamas and Hizbullah embraced the Arab League proposal they would be repudiating their own ideology and everything they stand for. You see the problem?

It's sort of like asking, if the Pope converted to Islam, do you think his relationship with Saudi Arabia would improve? Well, yes, but the question is, shall we say, highly, highly hypothetical.

To give Hamas their due, they have been too honest to even tell lies about accepting peace, as Arafat always does.
