Hi Frank,

Re: It's the wireless guys they want.

Among others. <smile> It's a really bad idea for me to be reading "Body of Secrets" by James Bamford. Sheesh, I was a lot happier when I didn't know about how much raw data is collected every minute by the friendly folks at NSA. I can feel their pain. For example, years ago, they cleverly considered that microwave signals across Siberia could be collected with LOS-oriented geo-syncronous satellites, with a perfectly clear signal.

Now, they've had to hire Cisco engineers in order to find ways into the 'Net, with fiber optic lines being way more troublesome than the old microwaves, or other wireless signals.

The cacophony of the airwaves is a real problem, and the new budgets for "No Such Agency" are going to go a long way to solving some fundamental requirements for the continuance of Echelon and other useful programs.

As far as fiber to the home, I hear ya. It's a simple world in that first mile.

Re: But wireless is worse! Don't you think?

Haven't in years. <g> According to Bamford, the problems with digitally encrypted wireless signals is a very important agenda item for the sleuths. Some new schemes appear unbreakable.
