we're fast approaching the time at which you can't take for granted the counterparty solvency on "home run" put options positions. VERY fast. In the June issue of John Doody's Gold Stock Analyst, there is a copy of a letter from James Sinclair, Chairman of Tan Range Explorations, to the Chairman of Newmont. The letter is written from Sinclair as a shareholder of Newmont, encouraging them to get out of any hedges ASAP because of the counterparty risk in the hedges. It's a fascinating read for anyone who has access. I can't copy it to the web because it's in pdf format.
