I'm surprised the SEC hasn't outlawed brokerage analysts. It's clear they are simply shills. The problem is, alot of them have managed to grab the spotlight and are considered experts.

There are plenty of independent analysis firms out there. The SEC should allow brokerage firms to have analysts, but not allow them to publish their work (they need the analysts for their own business transactions). If the firms wish to provide analysis for their clients, they should be forced to contract out to independent analysis firms. And not just one, which could lead to conflicts of interest.
