The Pakis will be very happy to see the Chinese immigrate into the valley of Kashmir for the simple reason that the Chinese will keep a watch on the Indians at no expense to the pakis. paki's intent is to hurt the Hindus and the Indian Govt since they cannot stand the progress India made since Independence, while Pakis themselves stayed behind. The Pakis will also never forget the clipping of its eastern wing and would hold a long-term grudge spanning over millenia against the Indians. What the pakis don't realize is that the birth of Bangla Desh is due to the treatment the Bangla Deshis received at the hands of the West pakistanis; it was not India's intent to establish the nation of Bangla Desh; the Pakis themselves did that. India would not stand around and cater to the 10 million refugees in West Bengal; It facilitated the birth of nation: its role was that of a midwife.

JPR:

We have had this conversation before. I give you the same answer I gave you previously. That is: China is not the China of Mao that invaded or went to war with India previously. It wants to be a world player and it wants things from the West and it has TOO MUCH going on elsewhere to risk it all for Kashmir--an invasion of which world opinion would never tolerate--China wold get booted out of the WTO and it would put a kabosh on China/Taiwan Raproachment and the up coming Olympics.

2. A viable UN force could serve as a trip wire which would guarantee a severe military response from UN Security Counsil members.

So China not a problem. More difficult is India's buregeoning sepratists groups. But too settle the big peace question India is going to have bite the bullet on the other sepratist issues. The potential nuclear conflict with Pakistan is just too damn important.
