The Gauge of Reason
or
The Golden Gauge

It helps to have a gauge that can measure the gold content of fleece. Wool keeps you warm even when it is wet, and believe me, if you fish a lot you will get wet so make sure you work with good quality wool. Right now even the best wool is being washed, if this is not done correctly, shrinkage will occur.
Low quality wool is still better than cotton.
A collection of lighter layers is much better than a few thick garments, you can also shed them as needed when the weather changes.
No matter how good the fishing is, never ignore the horizon, it is the source of all storms.

Very little of this advice is applicable to Saskatchewan, in Saskatchewan wool should be avoided during the summer, cotton is better.
