That's my point. The Republicans and Democrats keep third parties from being involved in the debates and the American public seems to refuse to give any credibility to a third party. It's as if a third party is there just to raise awareness of issues or to be the 'conscience' of the 'institutionalized' parties (no pun intended). I know Canadians that vote for a certain party because that's what they have always done or it's a family thing etc... Americans just seem to be wholly unwilling to accept the credibility of a third party whether it be Nader, Perot or other.

I completely agree that third parties usually end up dividing the electorate of one of the two major parties but I believe they both need a kick in the a$$.

Gore didn't carry his own state... enough said.
