I think the current attitude is that the adults responsible for the child's experience while visiting the library are the child's parents. The remark given by the director of the National Library Association is that it is an educational responsibility. Historically the professionals at the library or the municipality would have been responsible if the child were harmed during the library visit, through some sort of negligent supervision. The porno issue has opened many caverns of concern.
