DiB,

Here's my take on the sell-off today:

LU was sold off on very high volume, this is institutional selling.

Given the time of day the selling start, and the relentless sell, sell, I conclude this was a program trade.

Why the sell-off? The institutions were holding onto LU because of the pending spin-off of Agere. Now that the spin-off is completed, and the institutional holders got their "dividend", they bailed out of LU.

Once the spin-off is absorbed by the markets, LU's stock will have to find a new trading range. I suspect it will be in the range of 3 to 5 dollars until LU starts to show some earnings and revenue growth. Of course, this is dependent on enterprise spending kicking in.
