But enough of this, on to the awarding today's Back Alley Hall of Shame prize. Today it is very difficult, at first I was going to give it to the CEO of Vivendi for the following... "Jean-Marie messier, chief executive of Vivendi Universal, picked up a bonus worth 250 percent of his salary last year even though the media giant turned in the largest loss in French corporate history, the Financial Times reports.".. but instead it goes to the Pentagon for suspending an air force officer stationed in California. And just what brought this suspension to this combat pilot during the 1990 Gulf War? Well, it seems he had the balls to write a letter accussing a former AWOL pilot of "needing this war on terrorism. His presidency was going nowhere. He wasn't elected by the American people, but placed into the Oval Office by the conservative Supreme Court...the economy was sliding into the usual Republican pits and he needed something to hang his presidency on." Yep! The movement is on to silence the citizens of this country....BECAUSE the last time such action was taken by the Pentagon was in 1965 during the Viet Nam War. For all those military officers that wrote the same type letters about Bill Clinton...golly gee! The Pentagon merely sent them a memo reminding them of Article 88. So you Pentagon paragons of civil liberties...you get the Back Alley Award for June 5, 2002. Admire it and be proud that you, Ashcroft and Shrub care little about civil liberties in this country and wish to operate under the guise of darkness.
