I think Fidelity used to let you hold $ in deutchemarks, yen, francs, etc. They seem to have eliminated a number of good international options.

They eliminated the international bond fund about 4 months ago.
I held quite a bit of it and it got transferred automatically to FSICX
Its description is:
Fidelity Strategic Income Fund seeks current income. The fund primarily invests in debt securities allocated
between four basic categories which include high-yielding securities, U.S. government and investment-grade debt, emerging market securities, and debt from foreign developed markets. Management seeks to maintain
approximately 40% of assets in the high yield category, 30% in U.S. government and investment-grade debt, and 15% in each of the other two categories. The fund may also invest a portion of assets in convertible securities and common and preferred stocks. It is nondiversified.

It is obviously not a satisfactory replacement but I don't know where to put it instead. I used to use the foreign currency portfolios but they eliminated those as well. If you are interested in a simple way to hold foreign currencies, the Mark Twain Bank offers CD's denominated in foreign currencies.
