"One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" was Ken Kesey's 1st, & best, imo.
A 'Must Read' for sure!
(I saw you mentioned his "Sometimes a Great Notion", which is also good).

Anything by John McPhee is top notch for informative thought-provoking non-fiction.

I second a previous nomination for George MacDonald Fraser's "Flashman" series of historical novels. Informative & fun reading!
