ECU Silver Mining explains late financials

ECU Silver Mining Inc ECU
Shares issued 76,667,554 Jun 4 close $0.11
Wed 5 Jun 2002 News Release
Mr. Michel Roy reports

The Quebec Securities Commission ordered that transactions on the company's
shares be halted this morning. This is in accordance with the regulation
stating that a stock has to be halted if the company did not submit its
financial statements before the prescribed date.

The company has not submitted its financial statements yet because of
delays in preparing the audited statements for its Mexican subsidiaries.
Those statements were completed last week and given to the Canadian
auditors yesterday. They will integrate this information to the financial
statement for ECU and produce consolidated financial statements.
This process is expected to take approximately three weeks and the final
statements will then be submitted.

This event will not affect the operations which started this week at the
mill or the mining at La Esperanza which has been continuing for the last
three weeks. Results from production should be available by the time the
financial statements are ready for submission.
