If you get to cavalier about maintaining friendships pretty soon you don't even have addresses and phone numbers for people.

Totally losing track of people is, indeed, an obstacle to friendship.

As we have been discussing, people have different ideas about what friendship is. I know that some people think that a friend is anyone you hang out with. Those are high maintenance friendships. I'm a very low maintenance friend. I am very unlikely to be friends with anyone who constantly wants to talk on the phone or go out somewhere. Different strokes.
