Preparation of witnesses for trial requires a review of previous statements.

Yes, but what if the witness now remembers it differently? If the witness testifies based on the "preparation," does that amount to lying, given that they recall it differently now? I think, as we have been discussing, that this scenario of a different recollection over time is entirely possible if not even likely.
