I agree with you too, besides, gold would breed anarchy in the long run. Can you see people buying goods with gold? There would be too many people beating up the gold bugs...
Fiat money is here to stay. Take a look at the masses - the answer should be apparent.

Although I agree with your premise, I have witnessed a heckuva lot of businessmen/women spending out their butts and leaving the shareholders holding the bag, including CSCO, the last few years. Government, imo, will never be the solution. Anything they touch goes to hell.
